Dow Completes Sale of Interest in Cabo, Brazil, Vinyl Acetate Monomer Plant

Midland, MI - February 05, 2007

The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) announced today that it completed the sale of its interest in the Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) plant in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, State of Pernambuco, Brazil to JB Group on January 31, 2007.
 
As part of the transaction, employees of the Cabo facility, along with equipment and site-specific assets have been transferred to JB Group.  Dow remains committed to the VAM business and VAM customers in Latin America, and will continue to serve as the local distributor of VAM from the Cabo plant.

Dow announced its intention to divest its interests in the plant on November 22, 2006.

VAM is a key raw material used in emulsion polymers, resins, and intermediates used in paints, adhesives, coatings, textiles, wire and cable polyethylene compounds, laminated safety glass, packaging, automotive plastic fuel tanks and acrylic fibers.
